Review of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson: The Day They Met

“… Wendy C. Fries writes with such wonderful humour and joy, not one story falls short. Holmes and Watson are portrayed vividly and with such skill you do not need the date markers or hansoms or the London Eye to tell whether you’re in Victorian London or in modern London…”

“The Conan Doyle Notes: The Secret of Jack the Ripper,” uncovers clues as to Why the Dog Did Not Bark in the Night.  Sherlock Holmes concluded that it was because the intruder was known to the dog.  Madsen’s new mystery questions whether the identity of one of the greatest criminals of all time, Jack the Ripper, was deduced by Conan Doyle. Conan Doyle was already famous with his popular Sherlock Holmes stories when Jack the Ripper struck London in October 1888. Why was Conan Doyle silent about this case?  Find out in “The Conan Doyle Notes: The Secret of Jack the Ripper.”

Diane Gilbert Madsen’s The Conan Doyle Notes: The Secret of Jack the Ripper was the best book I’ve read in a long, long time. I was hooked by page six and couldn’t stop reading. Latest review of A Biased Judgement by Geri Schear

This is the most “authentic-feeling” work I have read. Doyle himself would be pleased with this. Every detail reeks of authenticity. It was difficult to put this down, and I’m sorry I’m finished!

Available from Amazon UK and Amazon USA.

Geri’s next book, Sherlock Holmes and The Other Woman will be out in November.

Released today: The Egyptian Curse – the final book in the Andriacco/McMullen trilogy

London, 1924: When Alfie Barrington is stabbed to death outside his club, suspicion quickly falls on his widow, the lovely Sarah – and on her former beau, Enoch Hale. The American journalist has an alibi, but he doesn’t know her name and Scotland Yard can’t find her. Determined to solve this case without the help of his friend Sherlock Holmes, Hale launches and investigation that brings him into contact with Leonard and Virginia Woolf, bohemian writers and publishers; P.G. Wodehouse, creator of Jeeves and Bertie Wooster; Howard Carter, discoverer of King Tut’s tomb; and one of the greatest mystery writers of all time. A second murder sparks journalistic speculation of a curse related to Alfie’s time in Egypt as a competitor of Carter and his patron, Lord Carnarvon. Hale doesn’t buy that, but he doesn’t come up with a better solution until it is almost too late. And in the end, it is once again Sherlock Holmes who puts it all together. This exciting historical mystery concludes the Enoch Hale – Sherlock Holmes trilogy that began with The Amateur Executioner and continued with The Poisoned Penman.

“In contrast to most tales involving Holmes, The Amateur Executioner takes us into an ambiguous and murky world where right and wrong aren’t always distinguishable. I look forward to reading more about Enoch Hale.”

The Egyptian Curse is available from all good bookstores including The Strand MagazineAmazon USA, Amazon UK, Waterstones UK, and for free shipping worldwide Book Depository .
